Crimson’s journalism program was featured as one of the school’s 15 pathways in Career Technical Education, the state’s name for courses that focus on career skills and work-based learning. Student editors Valeria Cisneros, Mason Seden-Hansen, and several Crimson staffers shared their work and observations of the impact of the program.

“Having  this class is a big part in getting to where I want to be in the future,” said sophomore Emily Olsen.

Olsen creates multimedia stories and shoots photos for Crimson. She began her media studies in Intro to Multimedia Journalism and is completing her second year now in Crimson Newsmagazine. She traveled with the program and competed at the National High School Journalism Convention in Dallas last November.

Seniors Valeria Cisneros, above, Mason Seden-Hansen, and Kathryn Varian oversee the program as Journalism 3 students. All of them are award winners in state and national journalism contests for their writing and designs.
