Tutorial guest speaker Denise Conte informs students on the tax-filing process
CTE teacher Denise Conte has been doing her taxes since she was 16 years old; during tutorial on Thursday, Feb 23, she passed on her knowledge to working students on the cheapest, easiest process. Students were given a handout to refer to throughout the presentation, which included a list of necessary documents needed, the step by step process through www.irs.gov, and Conte’s contact information. Conte followed a powerpoint presentation which went along the lines of the students’ handouts, as she created an IRS account, entered the necessary information, and “filed her taxes” in an example for the student audience. As she debunked tax myths and outlined the truth of tax filing, students left informed as to the proper way to file their taxes after earning an income.
