OPINION: Our votes don’t count

Trump won the electoral college 279 to Clinton’s 228, despite Clinton winning the popular with a small 210,737 votes more.

Republicans also won the House 239 to 193, and the Senate 51 to 47.

Previous polls and the country believed Trump would not succeed–media predictions have been criticized widely since Nov. 8–but the 70 year old Republican beat his rival, Democrat Hillary Clinton.

“The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer,” Trump said at a New York rally.

Mr. Trump’s statements and attacks had little effect on his victory.

Despite Trump publicly admitting to sexual assault in a video released in 2005, his fallacious claim that  “the concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese…”, and his belief that women should be “punished” for having an abortion, many Americans have put their faith in our new leader.

In spite of Mrs. Clinton’s four years as Secretary of State, six years as Senator  of New York, and eight years as first lady, the Republican multi-billionaire and celebrity will be sworn into the oval office.

“My whole life is about winning. I don’t lose often. I almost never lose,” Trump said.

Mr. Trump will officially be sworn into office on January 20th, 2017.
