Swim team takes 4th in league with two school records
The PRHS Bearcat swim team swam its way to 4th place in the PAC 8 league finals this spring, with 17 CIF qualifying times, 2 new school records, and 2 league champions.
Senior Josh Dewhurst won league championships in the 200 free with a CIF automatic qualifying time of 1:43.69. He set a new school record in the 100 back, and placed 5th with a CIF auto time of 54.07.
Senior Zac Brown was the league champion in the 500 free with a CIF automatic qualifying time of 4:40.45, and swam ahead of 2nd place by more than 9 seconds. Brown also qualified a CIF consideration time of 2:00.09 in the 200 IM finishing 3rd.
Both Dewhurst and Brown teamed with Grant Scheiffele and Mitchell Iunker to finish 3rd in the 400 free relay with a CIF automatic time of 3:17.07. Dewhurst’s lead off split time of 48.03 was another CIF auto time. The same team of four (Dewhurst, Iunker, Scheiffele and Brown) teamed up to place 3rd in the 200 free relay with a CIF automatic time of 1:30.27, setting a new Paso Robles High School record.
The girls 200 medley relay team (Cece Ramirez, Emily Christian, Veronica Ayala, and Kasey Moffitt) placed 4th in the 200 medley relay with a CIF consideration time of 2:02.07. Moffitt went on to earn CIF considerations in both the 200 free (1:59.99) and 500 free (5:22.94) placing 4th and 5th respectively.
Mackenzie Raymond finished 4th in the 500 free with a CIF consideration time of 5:22.08. Moffitt, Ayala, Ramirez and Raymond placed 3rd in the 400 free relay qualifying a CIF consideration time of 3:54.32.
The boys PRHS medley relay team (Hugo Delagraye, Garrett Wilson, Nick Cave and Gavin Hughes) finished 3rd in a CIF consideration time of 1:45.85.
Scheiffele earned two CIF consideration times placing 5th in the 200 free (1:50.23) and also 5th in the 100 fly (55.41).
CIF consideration times were earned by Nick Cave (4:59.23) and Gavin Hughes (5:00.36) in the 500 freestyle event.
