Paso High alumnus and current NFL player to hold combine at War Memorial StadiumScreen Shot 2016-03-25 at 9.51.38 AM

InScreen Shot 2016-03-25 at 9.55.17 AM 2009  Mitchell Van Dyk walked across the stage at his high school graduation with plans to play football at Portland State University after three years on the Paso Robles varsity football team that went to CIF each of those years. After finishing his five years at Portland State playing as a starting right tackle he moved onto the big leagues: the NFL. Van Dyk was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in 2014 and then picked up by the Pittsburgh Steelers in January of the following year. Fast forward to March 26, 2016 at 10 A.M. and he will be at the War Memorial Stadium running a combine with the PRNYFO. Here athletes will have things like their broad jump, vertical jump, and 40 yard dash tested along with a cone test, powerball throw test, L cone test, and a short shuttle station tested. This combine will not only provide experience for the athletes, but it will help coaches sort the players into different teams for the upcoming PRNYFO league that Van Dyk will help oversee as well. With two different programs that cover five different age groups there’s room for many players and more time playing the sport they love. If athletes are interested they mayScreen Shot 2016-03-25 at 9.53.35 AM visit playnyfo.com or centralcoastsportsdevelopment.com and attend the combine this coming Saturday with Van Dyk.
