Jack-less IPhone

Rumor has it that the upcoming iphone won’t have a headphone jack

The new iPhone 7 is expected to come out this fall, with only some “minor” changes. For most, a smartphone is just a way to use social media or to look up information needed quickly, but for those of us who depend on our phones for much more than that, the headphone jack is an essential feature on the iPhone or any phone for that matter.

Apple’s new iPhone 7 is rumored to come without a headphone jack. Now for some a phone without a headphone jack might not be a big issue,” Just listen to everything out loud, what’s the big deal!” they would say, but how would we able to solemnly look out the window of a bus or car as if being featured in a music video without our headphones to make it a personal experience. It’s impossible. However, Apple may be making the big leap for a solid reason.

According to the Apple website, the iPhone 6s is currently 0.62 inches in depth. Apple could be planning to make the iPhone 7 as thin as the new iPod 6, which is 0.24 inches in depth.

“I feel like Apple is just trying to make money by having the the customer buy wireless headphones for their iPhone. I wouldn’t buy it myself.” said Sophomore Madeline Lovelace, who recently heard about the rumored change.

With the new change of making the phone thinner in the iPhone 7, there may be more issues arising concerning the Bendgate issue. After the iPhone 6’s release the Apple company received some complaints about their new phone bending after placing them in the pockets of their tight jeans.

“The iPhone 6 smartphones are built with a unibody enclosure constructed from machining 6000 series anodized aluminum with stainless steel and titanium inserts to reinforce its high-stress locations.”said Amid Chowdry, writer for Forbes Magazine tech section.

Apple stated that the bend in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus smartphones is extremely rare, and are also rumored to use stronger materials to prevent another “Bendgate” from happening.

The positives of a thinner iPhone can be the fact that most people, especially teens, enjoy a phone that is aesthetically pleasing. As well as more pocket space. But even with all the aesthetics and space can it really cover up the fact that there might not be a headphone jack? For some, maybe, but for most maybe not.
