High school cross country team and Randy Nelson honored for service

The City Council Meeting on Jan 19th discussed many topics, along having a few special events.

The Martin Luther King Jr. choir  practiced for 2 months before a celebration ceremony on Saturday, Jan 16th, and performed for the attendees of the city council meeting that night.

Randy Nelson was honored by the city and recognized for his service as the PRHS principal, for being “dedicated and positive, putting student needs first,” according to Mayor Steve Martin.

The CIF cross country team stood before attendees of the meeting in recognition of their athletic achievement this fall.

The CIF Cross Country team was also recognized by the city that evening for their achievements at the southern section. The boys team finished as the 2nd team in the division. Ashley Davis placed 11th in the event and Annie Meeder placed 18th.

A progress report was given early in the meeting as well, describing that in 2015 and early 2016 the community has been more efficient in saving water compared to 2013-2014. The state mandated water usage was missed last month by 18%, yet the city has overall saved 20 million gallons more in the 2015 year than the 477 million gallon goal required.
